FIA Categories Four Categories: Faith, Family, Community & Life • 8 Supreme Recommended Programs in each category • 8 Featured Programs: 1 Faith, 1 Family, 3 Community and 3 Life • 4 Required Programs: 1 in each category • Faith – Spiritual Reflection Program • Family – Consecration to the Holy Family • Community – Helping Hands • Life – Novena for Life

Supreme Recommended FIA Programs • Eight Supreme Recommended Programs Per Category/Pillar • The goal is for the Council to be active and conduct programs that draw men closer to their Faith, Families and Communities. Faith: RSVP, Into the Breach, Marian Icon Prayer Program, Building the Domestic Church Kiosk, Rosary Program, *Spiritual Reflection Program, Holy Hour, Sacramental Gifts Family: Food for Families, Family of Month/Year, Keep Christ in Christmas, Family Fully Alive, Family Week, *Consecration to the Holy Family, Family Prayer Nights, Good Fri Family Promotions Community: Coats for Kids, Global Wheelchair Mission, Habitat for Humanity, Disaster Preparedness, Free Throw Championship, Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest, Soccer Challenge, *Helping Hands Life – Marches for Life, Special Olympics, Ultrasound Program, Christian Refugee Relief, Silver Rose, Mass for People w/Special Needs, Pregnancy Center Support, *Novena for Life

FIA Featured Programs • Eight Featured Programs: 1 Faith, 1 Family, 3 Community and 3 Life • When your Council conducts a featured program and satisfies the associated requirements, it will receive two credits toward that program category. • Faith – Refund Support Vocation Program (RSVP) • Family – Food for Families • Community – Coats for Kids, Global Wheelchair Mission, Habitat for Humanity • Life – Marches for Life, Special Olympics, Ultrasound Program

Req’d Faith - Spiritual Reflection Program Guidelines: • The definition of “reflection” is broad but should be a day-long event • Councils can attend religious retreats organized by other groups but if not planning it themselves, 10%/minimum of 10 Council members should attend • Reflections can be held with other Councils in the area • Be creative – make a pilgrimage to a nearby monastery or convent • Bottom line, do your best to meet the intent of the program

Req’d Family – Consecration to the Holy Family Action Steps: • Set a date for the Consecration and announce it a month before • Distribute Consecration to the Holy Family Prayer Cards the week before • On the day, distribute the prayer cards once again • Following the Consecration, host an event in the parish for all families • At the celebration be sure to wear your Council shirts • Remember to photograph/record the event

Req’d Community – Helping Hands Action Steps: • Contact leaders from local non-profit organizations to see how you can assist • As a Council, generate program ideas that can benefit those less fortunate • Build public interest by promoting your Helping Hand activities • On the day of the event wear your Council shirts • At the celebration be sure to wear your Council shirts • Remember to photograph/record the event

Req’d Life – Novena for Life Action Steps: • Plan the Novena by visiting www.kofc.org/novena to explore resources • Anchor the beginning and end of the nine days with a church service/rosary • Involve members of may parish organizations, especially the parish school and religious education leaders • Order Prayer for Life Prayer Cards • Prior to the start of the Novena, use the sample press release to distribute a tailored release to the local media • Remember to photograph/record the event

  18. Youth Protection Compliance Requirements Every Council must be fully compliant with applicable safe environment requirements. What this means: • The Grand Knight and Program Director must complete the Presidium Safe Environment training, • The Family and Community Directors must complete both the training and a background check, and • If your Parish sponsors a Columbian Squires Circle, the council Squires Chief Counselor and all Circle Counselors must complete the training and a background check • Must be Youth Protection Compliant to be eligible for Star Council awards
