Qualifications development • Progression – provide progression from Es & Os and maximise curricular continuity between levels • Hierarchical structures – use where ever possible and facilitated by skills-based outcomes • Flexible evidence requirements – support for choice in assessment methods and instruments of assessment especially in Unit requirements • More opportunities for combined integrative assessment • Credit for positive achievement • Challenge and enjoyment – refreshed and relevant contexts • Personalisation and Choice – Added Value Unit at National 4 and non-question paper component of Course Assessment at National 5 and Higher

  4. What’s different? Qualifications are more skills based than before – includes application of knowledge and understanding Outcomes and broad-based leaving flexibility for combining or integrating assessment when appropriate Introduction of Non-question paper component to Courses

Key messages – Art and Design • Has the same structure as draft documents and provides progression from National 3 to Advanced Higher • Unit tiles have changed to Art and Design: Expressive Activity and Art and Design: Design Activity • Unit Outcomes and Assessment Standards have been refined across SCQF levels to ensure progression is clearer • The Units offer opportunities for skills, knowledge and understanding to be developed and integrated throughout the Course • Added value is assessed through a practical activity at National 4 and a portfolio and a question paper at National 5 and Higher.

Key messages – Dance • Has the same structure and Unit titles as draft documents and provides progression from National 5 to Higher • Unit Outcomes and Assessment Standards have been refined to ensure progression is clearer • Added value is assessed through a performance at National 5 and Higher • The Units offer opportunities for skills to be developed and integrated throughout the Course

Key messages – Music • The Music Courses provide progression from National 3 to Advanced Higher • Unit Outcomes and Assessment Standards have been refined to ensure progression is clearer • A revised music concept list has been produced for the Courses (National 3 to Advanced Higher) • The Units offer many opportunities for skills to be developed and integrated throughout the Course • Added value is assessed through a performance at National 4 and a performance and a question paper at National 5 and Higher • Music Courses are designed to complement and be compatible with the Music Technology Courses

Key messages – Music Technology • New suite of Music Technology Courses designed to complement and be compatible with Music Courses • A revised music technology and music concept list has been produced for the Courses (National 3 to Higher) to compliment and be compatible with Music Courses • Provides progression from National 3 to Higher through deepening skills, extending knowledge of 20th and 21st century music, application of a widening range of contexts and increasingly independent working • Provides flexibility and choice of equipment which can be used, genres to be studied and contexts for application, to meet the diverse needs and interests of learners and centres • Added value to be assessed through a practical assignment at National 4 and a practical assignment and a listening paper at National 5 and Higher

Key messages – Photography • Has the same structure as the draft documents • Unit tiles have changed to– Photography: Image Making and Photography: Contextual Imagery • Unit Outcomes and Assessment Standards have been refined to ensure progression is clearer • The Units offer opportunities for technical and creative photography skills to be developed and integrated throughout the Course • The Course will be benchmarked against current Photography PBNC
