Day 2 in the media center involves refining your thesis statement for your academic paper with guidance from your teacher. You must engage with the required reading and start gathering research using MLA citation format. Alternatively, you can focus on reading and aligning your thoughts with the thesis using a designated card. Vocab sentence practice is also recommended for upcoming assignments.

What do I do today? Day 2 in the media center
1. Write your thesis statement • Get it checked off by your teacher • This is a working thesis, so you may end up changing it a bit as you read your book • Btw, you MUST read this book
2. You can now do one of two things • 1. Begin gathering the research. Remember to get MLA citation information as you do. (See pink MLA handout.) • AND/OR • 2. Go to a quiet spot and start reading. Use your thesis card as a bookmark so that you always think of thesis as you read. (You will eventually gather quotes of support from your novel, so keep that in mind as you read.) • OR: You could work on vocab sentences if you want to. These are due on Friday, which is a quiet reading/work day.
