Who am I ? • Valarie Trice 7th Grade ELA Teacher/ Language Arts Department Chair at Staley Middle School. • 5- Year Educator in Sumter County Schools • I have taught 8th grade, and I will start my 7th Grade journey this year. • I graduated from Americus High in 2001. • Received my B.S. in Middle Grades Education from Georgia Southwestern State University. • I am Gifted Certified • I LOVE teaching. I LOVE teaching in Sumter County!

  9. ~Harry Wong One of the greatest gifts a caring teacher can contribute to children is to help them learn to sit when they feel like running, to raise their hand when they feel like talking, to be polite to their neighbor, to stand in line without pushing, and to do their homework when they feel like playing. By introducing procedures in the classroom, you are also introducing procedures as a way of living a happy and successful life.

The Effective Teacher • Has a discipline plan that does not degradestudents. • Makes good eye contact • Provides a copy of the plan for each student. • Enforces the rules consistently. • Has learned how to discipline with the body, not with the mouth. • Teaches students the concept of consequences and responsibility. • Has self-confidence and faith in his or her capabilities.
