  3. What is CISAT? *Integration of real world experiences *Innovation *Agile/Entrepreneurial *Teaming and Collaboration *Strategic alliances/partnerships *Change *Responsive to community/private sector needs *Integrated, interdisciplinary focus

OUR PRODUCT—Graduates who are: • well educated in the foundations of science, technology, clinical practice, ethical/social context, teaming, problem solving • innovative, collaborative and integrative in devising creative solutions to issues • thinking critically and creatively: solve the right problem and solve the problem right

OUR PRODUCT—Graduates who are: • comfortable working with others—teaming, leadership, coordination, communication • competent and comfortable working on the edge—the interface of traditional discipline based knowledge and technology with interdisciplinary, complex real world problems • challenge traditional thought by engaging in a way of thinking that shapes the future

HOW and WHY? • Believing that • all the intellectual action and applied knowledge is at the intersect of various disciplines • real world problems/issues are inherently multidisciplinary • An integrative, systems perspective of the world • Learning opportunities that make linkages among disciplines, that integrate content and methods • A culture that supports faculty and students in integrating teaching, scholarship and service

HOW and WHY? • An emphasis on application—integrating real world experiences (e.g. applied research, service learning, clinical experiences, internships) throughout the curriculum • A focus on teaming by purposefully structuring instruction on teaming, leadership/followership, interpersonal relations, and coordination/management into the curriculum

  10. Demographics: • 17 undergraduate programs • 22 graduate programs (15 masters, 3 EdS, 4 doctoral) • ~ 4000 majors • 198 full-time faculty • 242 FTE faculty • Average over $9 million per year in external funding (approximately 40% of all University external funding)
