  2. What is E-Rate? • Provides discounts to schools to obtain telecommunication access. • Administered by the USAC • Provides discounts of schools ranging from 20% to 90% depending on qualifications. • Schools must apply to program to receive funding. • Schools and Libraries Program - USAC

  3. Funding categories • Telecommunication services • Internet access • Internal connections • Basic maintenance of internal connections

  4. How do we receive this? • District must apply to program • District must have a technology plan.

  6. Purpose • Common vision of technology • Improve academic achievement • Technology literacy • Improve critical thinking

  7. Goals of Technology Plan • Goal #1: Promote integration of technology in curriculum • Goal #2: Provide professional development to staff • Goal #3: Provide effective leadership and support • Goal #4: Maintain an effective infrastructure for networking

  8. Goal #1 – Objectives to address: • Integrate technology • 100% access for students and teachers • Access in classroom to multimedia software • Positive impact on parental involvement

  9. Goal #2 – Objectives to address: • Provide appropriate professional development to further multimedia needs • Ensure that all staff meets or exceeds SBED standards

  10. Goal #3 - Objectives to address: • Provide support and leadership for inclusion to classroom. • Use student online management technology to improve efficiency. • Encourage community involvement • Improve adult literacy programs

  11. Goal #4 – Objectives to address: • Encourage good communication • Provide safe and secure environment • Have all staff at or above Advanced Tech level on STaR standards

  13. Conclusion • From our chart and goals, you can see that we have a ways to go but we are still making progress. We as a district also have a 3 year budgeted plan to meet and exceed TEA’s standards and requirements to ensure our children will be ready to be 21st Century Learners.
