  3. Learning goals for today • Teachers will understand the state’s expectations for growth in the goals • SGP- Student growth percentage • Teachers will create a realistic goal from data that addresses the “how much” question using current data.

  4. Student growth Percentile • A student growth percentile (SGP) describes a student’s growth compared to other students with similar prior test scores (their academic peers). • Teacher Questions: • Did my students grow adequately toward meeting state standards? • How much growth do my students need to become proficient? • Are there students with unusually low growth who need special attention? • Student growth percentile

  5. Sources of data for SGP • OSPI –Reports • WAMS • MAP • Classroom assessments

  6. Part two- how much • Go to a site that provides you with information about where your students are. This may be a NWEA site, skyward, EOC/MSP/DAPE/HSPE results. • Looking at your students decided the following • What is a realistic growth target for • 8.1 Us, as a team, to work toward? • 6.1 The class as a whole to reach? • 3.1 This specific sub-group to reach? • How many could realistically reach this: 60%? 80% 90% 100%

SGG • 6.1 In the 9th grade class, 90% of all students will increase their _________________ by ____________________ between ___________________ and _________________ as determined by ________________________________ • 3.1 Special education students that qualify in reading and writing will increase their _____________________ on _______________________ between ___________________ and ______________________ as determined by ___________________________ • 8.1 The 9th grade team will meet bi-monthly after assessing data and look at strategies to improve informational text scores for all students.
