Keys management in Kerberos and SSL Abstract: • Despite the fact that the World Wide Web is an untrusted environment, increasing use is being made of the Internet in electronic commerce applications. To prevent attacks, a strong security architecture is required. Kerberos and SSL are two typical protocols, which provide various security services, namely confidentiality, integrity, authentication, widely used in non-trusted distributed network environments such as the Internet. This paper gives the overview of Kerberos and SSL. A comparison is presented of the keys management in these two protocols. It concludes with the summary of these two protocols and provides a discussion of future directions of authentication protocols.
