8. Project Background There are approximately 100 schools in the region yet not 1 library.
There are 17 communities interested in following Matenwa’s lead in development of a new system of learning.
If a model library existed
It could become a resource for all sectors of the community: teachers, religious leaders, development workers, young adults, adults and the elderly who want to grow and broaden their understanding of the world.
9. Strategy for Project Focus on supporting literacy improvement in the Matenwa community by building a library at the Community Learning Center.
Furnish the Library with books and materials in Haitian Creole.
Provide access to the internet despite no utilities.

Commonwealth Interact Club since 2005 some $25,000 for operations as well as disaster relief
Skidaway Rotary Club and members about $10,000 for disaster relief.
San Juan Club and members about $10,000 for disaster relief.
Both District 7000 and District 6920 each contributed over $10,000 for disaster relief.
15. Beyond Literacy Certainly literacy will remain a commitment. However, by the end of the next Rotary year we will be in a maintenance mode vs. a building mode for several years.
The future now is to focus on Health and Agriculture: Initial discussions with the community have begun.
