As a next logical step in the IRU strategy the IRU organised, in public-private partnership with the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), the Silk Road Truck Caravan 2010.

Results indicated that the Caravan has achieved its set objectives and that the main non-physical barriers, notably at borders, mostly stemfrominefficient implementation of the key UN multilateral trade and road transport facilitation instruments.
