Healthcare is Largest Employment Sector in Muskogee County • Muskogee County is home to 204 healthcare employer establishments, generating $632 million in multiplied annual revenue. • 19% of the Muskogee County workforce is employed in healthcare (5,438 employees), generating $300 million in multiplied annual payroll. • On average, Muskogee County healthcare employees earn 73% more than the county average.

  3. Healthcare Workforce Demand is increasing in Muskogee County • Currently, Muskogee County faces a 3% shortage of qualified healthcare workers. This results in $500,000 in lost payroll annually. • The Dept. of Commerce expects an 11% growth in healthcare jobs in Muskogee County over the next 10 years. This amounts to the possibility of an additional 598 skilled employee positions and $33 million multiplied annual payroll.

  4. MDHS is a “Gap Funding” Scholarship for Tuition, Fees, Books + Stipend for Muskogee County Residents • Eligible majors in Nursing, Allied Health, Biological Science • Requires Two-Year Local Health Care Work Commitment • $300,000 over three years thanks to a grant from the City of Muskogee Foundation. Can fund up to 40 students this year.

Institutions, Healthcare Providers, Workforce Development • Mission: To collaboratively recruit, train, educate and retain health care professionals to meet the workforce needs in Eastern Oklahoma • Idea developed through collaboration between the Eastern Workforce Investment Board and the Muskogee Area Education Consortium • 2008 = Broad Community Input on Strategic Plan • 2010 = Regional Summit, Collaborative Vision to make Muskogee a Regional Healthcare Education Hub
