  3. Boyle’s Law • Published by Robert Boyle in 1622 • Law: For a fixed amount of a gas kept at a fixed temperature, P (pressure) and V (volume) are inversely proportional • Equation: pV = k

  4. The Sceptical Chymist • Published in 1661 • Presented Boyle’s hypothesis • Boyle believed all theories must be proved before being regarded as true • Therefore, he is called the “Founder of Modern Chemistry”
