  5. MEASURES OF ARCS • The measure of a minor arc is the measure of its central angle. • The measure of a major arc is 360° minus the measure of its minor arc.

  6. ARC MEASURES 30° B 30° 30° C 330° A D

  7. SEMICIRCLE A semicircle is formed when a diameter is drawn on a circle. The measure of a semicircle is 180°.

  8. POSTULATE 16 POSTULATE 16Arc Addition Postulate The measure of the arc formed by two adjacent arcs is the sum of the measures of these two arcs. • Adjacent arcs of a circle are arcs that have only one point in common.

  9. THEOREM 9-3 THEOREM 9-3 In the same circle or in congruent circles, two minor arcs are congruent if and only if their central angles are congruent. • Congruent arcs are arcs in the same circle or in congruent circles that have equal measures.
