  5. Convergent Evolution • Convergent: Two species with different ancestries evolve in similar ways, developing into similar organisms. • Ex: Birds and Bats

  6. Divergent Evolution • Divergent: A group of the same species develop different characteristics, evolving into new species. • Ex: Monkeys and Humans

  7. Distribution of Species • When the Panama isthmus formed animals from South America Migrated to North America and Vice Versa • The new habitat caused the animals to adapt and evolve into variations of their former species for the new climate
