  2. Main Characteristics of the Tundra • The location is inside the arctic circle and, the north pole. It’s a cold environment and it has high northern latitudes. • The soil- permafrost is a few inches down. It has poor soil often frozen and the nutrients are not good. • The climate is warm in the summer 50F (10C), and cold in the winter; 32F(0C) and it is very harsh.

  3. Animals • Ermine-found all over Canada. • Musk Ox-it can live in the harsh conditions. • Polar Bear-love to eat , they need lots of energy. • Arctic Fox-are camouflaged summer brown, winter white. • Owls-one of the largest and most attractive of the owls.

  4. Plants • Bear berry-covered in a thick bark and fine silky hairs. • Mosses-grows in the arctic and northern regions around the world. • Pasqual flower-rise 6to8 inches tall.

  6. Adaptation • They must adapt to the relatively cool summer, the shortness of the growing season. Those that remain have unique adaption to help them thrive year-around. They also can be camouflaged.

  7. Threats • Today global warming is melting the permafrost of the tundra and every year several feet of tundra and lost. Pollution from mining and drilling for oil has polluted the air.

  8. How are plants and animals interdependence • There are many was to be interdependence. Plants give us oxygen. The second way is that plants and animals give us food. Birds and bees help us pollinate. Animals help spread seed around by there fur, and bury.
