ESD Awards • Oli de Weck – Outstanding Service Award, AIAA MDO Technical Committee, 5/07 • Warren Seering – Frank Perkins Award, MIT (Excellence in advising and teaching), 5/07 • Yossi Sheffi – PLAZA Award, Government of Aragon (most significant contribution to economic growth), 6/07 • Dan Frey – Best Paper Award, ASME Design Theory and Methodology, 9/07 • Hamsa Belakrishnan - T. Wilson Career Development Professorship, 9/07 • Annalisa Weigel – elected an Associate Fellow AIAA • Joe Sussman – elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for 2007, 10/07 • Dava Newman’s Bio-Suit was named by TIME Magazine as one of the Best Inventions of the Year, 11/07 • Hamsa Balakrishnan received an NSF CAREER award, 1/08 • Nancy Leveson named one of 2007 top executives who had the greatest impact on the government information systems community, 2/08

ESD Awards • Joe Sussman appointed chair of the ITS Advisory Committee • Joe Coughlin named among “12 People who are Changing the Future of Your retirement” by the Wall Street Journal, 2/08 • Cindy Barnhart named President of INFORMS, 2/08 • Joe Sussman – Career Achievement Award, City College of NY Engineering School Alumni, 4/08 • Sheila Widnall received three honorary DSC degrees from Oxford, Claremont, and Northwestern 4/08 • Adam Ross and Donna Rhodes, Best Paper Award IEEE Systems Conference, 4/08 • Stephen Graves was named POMS Fellow, 4/08 • Joe Coughlin was named a “Hero in Home Healthcare Innovation” by the Visiting Nurse Association 4/08 • Oli de Weck – 2007 Best Paper Award, SystemEngineering, 6/08 • Mort Webster - $750,000 NSF grant 6/08 • Mort Webster - $4 million NSF grant, 7/08 • Richard de Neufville awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for a program on German to environmental risks
