  2. Integrating Technology into the Curriculum Technology has come along way, every day something new is introduced. As a teacher in today's technological age we must learn to Integrate these new technologies into our curriculum.

  3. Technology is a tool to enhance or support instructional strategies. • Educators should have proper technology training and planning before integrated into the classroom. • Technology promotes learning through the Web. It is often referred to as an educational equalizer- allows students from all backgrounds the same access. Students are able to develop additional technology skills

  4. Planning Lessons • Teachers should consider the skills and knowledge required for students to complete lessons. • Models Skill assessment survey KWL charts KWHL charts Technology committees and teacher's manuals, and in-services can give you all of the information you need to allow you to integrate technology in the classroom.

  5. Upgrading • Teachers may have to go through a technology committee or obtain educational grants to upgrade hardware or computers for your classroom. • To purchase additional software, you made need to check with a media specialist, technology facilitator. Or the state board of education. • There are several technologies besides computers that can be used in a classroom including: DVD players, VCRs, digital cameras, scanners, projectors, and smart boards.

  7. Digital Media IPods, Laptops, Desktops, and Smart Phones, today most of the children we will be teaching have a basic understanding of these types of devices. A teacher today must learn how to use these in there class.

  8. What is digital media? Technologies that allow users to create new forms of interaction, expression, communication, and entertainment in a digital format.

  9. Digital Media Integration Digital media can be integrated into the classroom in many different ways. • Computer labs • Media centers • Virtual field trips • Videos

  10. Benefits of Integrating Digital Media • Capture and hold students’ attention • Allow students to determine the flow of information • Review concepts • Practice skills • Do in depth research • Creates opportunities for discovery learning • Opens doors for imagination

  14. Integration • By itself is defined as bringing different parts together into a whole. • Curriculum Integration or Technology Integration. • It’s using technology to help meet the curriculum standards and learner outcomes for each lesson, unit, or activity.

  15. Conclusion • To be a teacher today we must learn to combine Technology, Digital Media, and Core Standards to create an effective curriculum.
