Correlation and Regression in Chapter 5

In Chapter 5, correlations measure linear relationships between variables. A correlation of 0 indicates no relationship, meaning Y-scores do not tend to change with X-scores. Predicting a person's Y-value based on X-value is not improved with knowledge of X. A positive linear relationship implies Y-scores increase as X-scores rise.
