Repentance=to change your mind that results in change of action. Repentance Repentance Repentance from? SIN Renewed Walk Salvation
The Realities of Repentance • Realization as a result of the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:31; 11:18; Rom. 2:4) Luke 15:17a • Rooted in Godly sorrow which brings regret (II Cor. 7:10) Luke 15:17b
Resolution to change your behavior (Matt. 3:7-8) Luke 15:18a • Reveal your sin-confess it (Luke 15:18b, 19, 21) • Restitution-when possible (We have nothing do with restitution when it is repentance to salvation. Renewed walk repentance is different)
Release-forgive others and yourself (The “prodigal son” had to forgive himself)
Receive-the gift of forgiveness (Luke 15:22-23) The Robe-a sign of dignity and honor. The Ring-a sign of authority and sonship. The Shoes-servants didn’t wear shoes. The fatted calf was used for occasions like the Day of Atonement.
When Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the church in 1517, he began with this crucial statement: “When our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said, “Repent” (Matthew 4:17), he willed the entire life of believers to be one of repentance.”
