  1. Hatchetis a book about……. • A 13 year old kid named Brian who is flying to Canada to see his dad. • He is stranded in a forest in Canada because his pilot gets a heart attack and dies. • He is stuck in the middle of nowhere with nothing but a Hatchet. • He has adapted to his new environment in many ways. He has made a bow and arrow to hunt. He also made a spear for hunting. • When he hears a search plane coming for him, he lights a bonfire so the pilot will see the smoke, but the pilot does not see the smoke. What will he do?

  2. About the characters •Brian •Pilot • 13 years old • Parents are divorced • He is abandoned in a forest after his plane crashes. • Has a heart attack while flying the plane that is taking Brian to see his father.

  3. My favorite part... iswhen Brian gets hit by a tornado, but does not give up. This is my favorite part because it shows that Brian is determined to survive in the wilderness of Canada.

  4. About the Author • Born May 17, 1939, Gary Paulsen is one of America's most popular writers for young people. • Although he was never a dedicated student, Paulsen developed a passion for reading at an early age. • After a librarian gave him a book to read — along with his own library card — he was hooked. • He began spending hours alone in the basement of his apartment building, reading one book after another.

  5. Thank you and I hope you enjoyed my presentation!
