  1. Attitude • The feeling of a character as reflected in the selection. The lady hates foxes. But the fox can’t help but smile.

  2. Setting • The time and place in which the action of a story occurs. A beautiful sunset near the worlds biggest forest. A great day to go to the beach.

  3. Third Person • A point of view that doesn’t include the author, and doesn’t use the word “I”. Third Person: Sometimes you need to let me do my job. Author: Hurry up Duchies. Another Person: Don’t yell at her.

  4. Style • How the author writes rather than what the writer writes. Authors write in a variety of ways.

  5. Analogy • A comparison of two things. Sometimes you just can’t decide that’s what you would call an analogy.

  6. Character • The person or animal around which the action in a story occurs. Pops is the nicest person I know. But he’s also very busy.

  7. Climax • The high point or turning point in story • Here comes my big climax scene.

  8. Conclusion • A decision reached based on information presented in a selection Looks like that’s the end of this story.

  9. Conflict • The problem or complications in a story There is always a problem when it comes to people.

  10. Dialogue • The written conversation between two or more characters I had a great time. Me too.
