Research Framework Programme 7 2007-2013 • First call early 2007 – Launch Oct. 2006 - 54 Billion Euros • EU goal of 3% of GDP spent on Research, USA currently spend 2.59, Japan 3.12, EU 1.97 • Research Programmes building towards ERA • Cooperation – Collaborative Research • Integrated projects, STREPs, • Ideas – Frontier Research • Executive agency, individual teams etc. • People – Human Potential • Training & Mobility for Researchers - young, lifelong, International. • Capacities – Research Capacity • Building up capacity such as Regions of knowledge, SMEs etc.

  9. e-contentplus • Making digital content more available & accessible • content enrichment – making content more user friendly • Enabling infrastructure – • providing the basis for the provision of the content – challenging the legacy systems • Digital Libraries (Major EU goal) – (Museums, libraries & Archives) Written and Audiovisual heritage on internet • Up to 5 million euro, deadline October 31 • Users, content providers, technology companies

  10. e-Ten • Deployment of e-services with a Trans-European dimension • Exploiting services with European potential • Bringing R&D to market • i.e. Bring the Geoshare service to other regions • Micheal Plus – distributed platform to provide access to cultural collections

Lifelong Learning • Comenius: To involve at least 5% of EU school pupils in joint educational activities. • Erasmus: To provide EU study abroad opportunities for a total of 3 million university students by 2011. • Leonardo da Vinci: To increase training placements in enterprises and training centres in another EU country to 150,000 in 2013. • Grundtvig: To help 25,000 adult education students benefit from studying abroad in 2013.

Youth Programme • Current Call - Deadline: 1st July • Innovative co-operation, training and information projects • Contribute to strong cooperation between youth orgs and local/regional authorities • Aged between 15 and 25 years • 18-36 months • Aims to develop a sense of • personal responsibility, • initiative, • concern for others, citizenship and active involvement at local, national and European level among young people.  • The programme will also help to improve support systems for youth activities.
