  1. HOW IS HEAD AND NECK CANCER HOW IS HEAD AND NECK CANCER TREATED? TREATED? The very first step in treating head and neck cancer is to find out the stage of cancer. Stage I and II cancers are considered to be small and they usually do not spread from their original location. They are generally curable. Stage III and IV cancers usually spread to nearby lymph nodes and turn out to become large tumors.
