Carpooling Definition - When two or more people ride in the same vehicle. • People who carpool save money on gas and other travel expenses • They also save gas • Park and ride lots are a perfect place to carpool, you can meet others there and drive together
Biking and walking • Good exercise • Saves money • Saves gas • No traffic (except for the occasional baby stroller) • Good for the environment
Public Transportation Definition- When people use buses, trolleys, etc. that are provided by the city or state that they are in. • A lot of people can ride on one bus or trolley, that saves the city or state money • It also saves from each individual car burning gas
Vanpooling Definition - When five or more people ride together in a passenger van. • They save money and gas • These vans can drive in the HOV (high occupancy vehicle) lane.
Organization • The Memphis Area Commuter Club Rideshare Program is a federally funded program through the congestion mitigation air quality program
Other Info • Nashville has been one of the mostcongested cities in the nation. • The typical Middle Tennessee motorist wastes more than 7 workdays a year waiting in rush hour traffic
