Promoting Social Inclusion in Segregated Residential Zones in Hungary
In Hungary, over 1600 segregated residential zones exist, where 50% of working-age residents lack regular income or qualifications beyond elementary school. To address these challenges, complex programmes focused on social inclusion have been launched since 2005, involving housing refurbishment, training, and employment initiatives. Key actions include annual funding, community development, and mandatory participation in labor and educational programs. Future plans include residential integration pilot programs and a comprehensive housing strategy to promote long-term social inclusion.
