  1. PreCalcStudy Guide*key I have saved Year 2 as a separate PDF. Chapter 6 Also look in your book at page 544 #16, 17, 18, 21, 28, 38, 43, 58, 59, 62

  2. 1. The angle of elevation to a man on a telephone pole is 34 degrees from a spot on the ground 150 feet away from base of the pole. The angle of elevation to the top of the pole is 50 degrees. Find the distance from the man to the top of the pole.

  3. 2. Find the area of the triangle. 9 21 13

  4. Question 3 At a certain distance, the angle of elevation to the top of a building is 60º. From 40 feet further back, the angle of elevation is 45º . Find the height of the building.

  5. 4. Navigation A plane flies 1200 miles with a bearing of N 52W from City A to City B. Then the plane flies 800 miles from City B to City C with a bearing of S 20. Find the distance from City A to City C. (city C is due West of City A)

  6. 5. How many solutions (0, 1, or 2) will the triangle have IF . . . . b = 2 ____ b = 3 ____ b = 4 ____ b = 9 _____ b = 13 ____ b 9 21

  7. 6. Find the TWO solutions for angle A 5 9 21 A

  8. 7. Geometry: Find the area of the parallelogram. 125 feet 92 feet 124

  9. Question 8 Find the area of a triangle with side lengths of 5, 7, and 11.

  10. 9. Tom, Dave, and Henry are camping in their tents.  If the distance between Tom and Dave is 153 feet, the distance between Tom and Henry is 201 feet, and the distance between Dave and Henry is 175 feet, what is the angle from Dave to Henry to Tom?

  11. 10. Batman or Robin? Two damsels are in distress. Matilda fell down a well and is stuck and the water is rapidly rising. Latoya is stuck in a burning building on the 17th floor. And Batman and Robin are sitting at Starbuck’s. If the angle created by Latoya looking from the well to the starbuck’s is 46 degrees and the angle created by Matilda looking from Starbuck’s to the smoke of the burning building is 58 degrees, and the distance from Matilda to Latoya is 8 miles, and Robin is slower than Batman . . . . Who should Batman rescue, and how much further does he have to fly?

  12. 11. Isosceles Triangle question A parcel of land is shaped like an isosceles triangle. The base has a length of 550 feet. The other sides which are of equal length meet at an angle of 42 degrees. How long must the sidewalk be that surrounds the land?

  13. 12. Battle ship! Two boats are racing towards shore. An observer in a light house measure the angle of depression to the first boat being 23 degrees and the angle of depression to the second boat being 56 degrees. If the observer is 200 feet above sea level, find the distance between the two boats.

  14. 13. Find the area of the triangle below: 5 37 7

  15. 14. Vectors Find the magnitude and direction angle for the following vectors: • < - 3, - 7 > • < 5, -2 >

  16. 15. Vectors Find the component form if the head of the vector is at (-4, 1) and the tail is at (3, 6)

  17. 16. Vectors • If the magnitude of the vector is 10 and the direction angle is 210 degrees, find the component form of the vector.

  18. 17. Vectors Find the magnitude of v = 3i – 2j

  19. 18. Vectors • An airplane has an airspeed of 724 kph at a bearing of N 30 E. If the wind velocity is 32 kph from the west, find the ground speed and the direction of the plane.
