Aristotle’s Metaphysic. Aristotle was born in 384 B.C. at Stagira in north Greece. Aristotle’s contribution in philosophy very huge especially in logic, not only in logic but also the other knowledge, like: Physic, Psychology, Metaphysic, Ethic, and Politic.

Aristotle’s Metaphysic • Aristotle was born in 384 B.C. at Stagira in north Greece. • Aristotle’s contribution in philosophy very huge especially in logic, not only in logic but also the other knowledge, like: Physic, Psychology, Metaphysic, Ethic, and Politic. • His influence still exist until now, include the Moslem Philosopher

The other name of metaphysic • The origin of the metaphysic not from Aristotle but has been related to Andronicus of Rhodes (70 B.C.), the first editor of Aristotle’s works. • The first name of metaphysic for Aristotle is sophia, because this knowledge looking for fundamental knowledge. • There is knowledge studying “being as being” (to on hei on). • First philosophy, this knowledge inquire to substance or it called theologia.

  3. Four causes about changing: • Efficient cause • Final cause • Material cause • Formal cause

  4. x • According Aristotle the main meaning “being” is substance • To understanding “being” Aristotle using ten categories, the one of “being” is substance and the other is accident (symbebekos). • Metaphysics not talking “being’ as accident but metaphysics talking “being” as substance.

Attributes of God • In Metaphysic Aristotle much explain about form-matter and potentiality-actuality. • According Aristotle God is “first mover unmoved”. • The first mover is eternal thing because He is final cause of the motion that characterizes the physical world. • Aristotle says: kinei de hos eromenon: “He produces motion as being loved”.
