  3. He’s “explosive” and fast. He “dances” and “charges”. • Picture shows him as an older man • Humiliated by racism • Disappointed in his teammates • Tries not to let insults bother him • Fans and opposing teams heckle him because he’s black. • Management is confident enough in him to hire him. • Only Pee Wee Reese tries to defend him. I think he was brave. In a lot of ways, he was a hero.

  4. 1. 1947: Robinson begins playing for the Dodgers. 2. He travels to major cities with the team. 3. Robinson thrown at constantly and hit a total of six times 4. He sharpens skills as base runner. 5. He is heckled and abused in Cincinnati and Boston 6. Pee Wee Reese stands beside Robinson to silence crowd. Event is a turning point in Robinson’s career.
