  17. One-Year Post Graduate Diploma Course (PGDC) in Thermal Power Plant Engineering NPTI was the first to start “One-Year Post Graduate Diploma Course (PGDC) in Thermal Power Plant Engineering” with an innovative idea of picking up enthusiastic Engg. Graduates interested in Power Sector and imparting Operation, Maintenance & Commissioning practices to meet the urgent needs of the power sector. This one-year PGDC Program is one of our most successful attempts to create a pool of technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment by PSUs/SEBs/Power Utilities. The Power Sector recruits this trained manpower since its inception in 1996. 18

  18. Two-Year MBA in Power Management approved by AICTE • This unique MBA Program in Power Management was conceptualized in order to meet the demand of the changing phases of Power Sector development in India and with the aim of interfacing frontier technologies with management and to fill the gap of the huge requirement of Power Managers to run the Indian Power Sector on Techno-commercial lines. • It also has a special emphasis on reforming Power Sector issues to give extra strength to Indian Power Sector Engineers applying management theories and concepts to live problems of electricity industry in these challenging times. • This course curriculum has 30% - 40% of the subjects related to Power Sector and has 100 % placement since its inception in 2002

  19. Unique Four-Year B.Tech. Degree in Power Engineering approved by AICTE NPTI was the first institute envisioning the needs of the power sector and to carry out AICTE approved academic program such as B.Tech. in Power Engineering at three institutes viz., Badarpur-New Delhi, Durgapur and Nagpur institutes. This course is different from conventional Engineering in Electrical or Mechanical. Subjects like Power Plant Operation, Maintenance, Load Despatch, Rotational On-Job Training, Power Plant Maintenance are included as a part of the curriculum making it a unique innovation to meet the needs of the Power Sector without any further training. NPTI carved its own niche in imparting and addressing comprehensively the various training needs of the country’s power sector and providing skilled manpower from time-to-time.

  20. One-Year Post Diploma Course in Thermal Power Plant Engineering In order to cater to the changing sectoral scenario and the requirements of trained manpower at supervisory levels NPTI was again the first to start “One-Year Post Diploma Course in Thermal Power Plant Engineering” for Diploma Trainees. This one year course is aimed at developing skills and attitude for fresh and practicing Diploma holders to suit power sector needs in Operation, Maintenance & Commissioning practices and meet the growing demand at the Supervisory cadre in power plants.

  21. One Year Post Graduate Diploma Course in GIS & Remote Sensing A Geographical Information System (GIS) Resource Centre has also been set up at NPTI Corporate Office, Faridabad. The Centre conducts “Post Graduate Diploma in GIS and Remote Sensing” to meet the urgent requirements of Power Sector.

  22. Nine Months Post Graduate Diploma Course inHydro Power Plant Engg. In order to develop trained manpower for the Operation and Maintenance of Hydro Power Stations, NPTI is conducting a 39 weeks course on “Operation and Maintenance of Hydro Electric Power Stations” at its dedicated Hydro Power Training Institute at (HPTC), Nangal. The objective of this course is to prepare Graduate Engineers well versed with the operation, maintenance and commissioning practices of Hydro Power Stations and developing into competent Hydro Power Station Managers.

  23. Six Months Post Graduate Diploma in O&M of Transmission and Distribution Systems In order to create technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the Power companies in the area of Transmission & Distribution of electrical power, NPTI’s, specialized Power System Training Institute offers a 26-week Post Graduate Diploma course on ‘O&M of Transmission & Distribution Systems’ for the Graduate Engineers at this Institute.

  24. Six Months Post Diploma Course inHydro Power Plant Engg. Sensing the need for requirement of skilled and trained operators at the Supervisory level of Hydro Power Plants, NPTI started this program to fill in the scarcity of this technically trained competent personnel

  25. One Year Post Graduate Diploma Course in Sub-Transmission and Distribution Systems NPTI has realized that the amendment in the Indian Electricity Act, have opened private sector participation in the Sub-Transmission & Distribution of Power. It has further created a large demand for the trained persons in Electrical Utilities. NPTI’s Power System Training Institute introduced a ‘52-week Post Graduate Diploma course on ‘Sub-Transmission & Distribution Systems’ from September 2013 onwards. The syllabus for the above course is based on the syllabus framed by CEA for Engineers engaged in Operation and Maintenance of Sub-Transmission and Distribution Systems under Part IV of Sub-regulation (3) of Regulation (vii) under Measures relating to Safety and Electric Supply Regulations, 2010.

Innovative Initiatives – Information Technology Interface • Simulators • A comprehensive training tool which replicates the complete process of Power Plant Control Room operations in a real-time integrated operation scenario. • Simulators impart effective hands-on, off-job operation skill training resulting in sharpening reflexes of Power Plant Control Room Operators • Operators can observe Plant dynamic responses repeatedly which is impossible and risky in a real Plant scenario. • Malfunctions, Emergencies can be created at will for a comprehensive understanding

  34. Hi-Tech Real-Time Operation Simulators More than 10,000 Operation Engineers already trained on these Simulators

  35. Simulators – Innovative Training Tool NPTI’s Power Plant Training Simulators are High-quality, High-fidelity, Full Scope, Hi-Tech, Real-Time capable of Training Shift Charge Engineers/Unit Controllers/Operators in the ‘Conventional Panel’ Modes of Unit Operation as well as DDC Plants catering to the express demands of Operational expertise. More than 200 emergency situations have been captured in an integrated plant process dynamic operation scenario. Engineers can experience a full range of operations together with stress situations to become better troubleshooters where it matters the most. More than 10,000 Engineers and Operators have been trained on these Simulators and NPTI by induction of these specially trained engineers/operators did contribute to the overall improvement of all India’s average Plant Load Factor (PLF) of Thermal Power Plants (NPTI has 5 Real-time Simulators)
