Exploring Mercury: The Closest Terrestrial World to the Sun
310 likes | 438 Views
Mercury, the closest planet to the Sun at just 0.4 AU, is the 10th largest planet in our solar system. With a unique orbit of 88 Earth days, it experiences extreme temperatures ranging from 800°F during the day to -300°F at night. The planet has a surface gravity of 3.7 m/s², which is only 38% of Earth's. Mercury's atmospheric pressure is minimal, with readings between 10-14 bars. Though it has a weak magnetic field, it has been a target for space exploration, notably by the Mariner 10 spacecraft.
