To apply for a divorce, it is compulsory to be married at least for 12 months. This rule can’t be modified and there is no exception to this rule. Furthermore, the marriage must be recognized legal in the law of United Kingdom. Generally there are two types of divorce; undefended divorce and defended divorce.

  1. Types of Divorce To apply for a divorce, it is compulsory to be married at least for 12 months. This rule can’t be modified and there is no exception to this rule. Furthermore, the marriage must be recognized legal in the law of United Kingdom. Generally there are two types of divorce; undefended divorce and defended divorce.

Defended Divorce • If one of the spouses is not agreed for the divorce, then it is called defended divorce. • In this case, the couple should contact the lawyer in order to put forward the case in the court. • This whole process demands a lot of legal fees. Therefore, it is advised that the couple should try to come to an agreement before going to a court.

  3. Undefended Divorce • If both of the spouses are agreed to the terms and conditions of the divorce, it is called undefended divorce. • A lawyer is not needed in this case.
