  1. In praise of WARPs Bruce Thomson MBCS

  2. Interconnectedness • You maybe alone, but there are others/. • Alan always has a policy/.. • One of the Daves may know/… • What someone says may not always fit, but/….

  3. But what should I say…. • Real time warnings and updates • The possibility of feedback when things are going wrong, this can be a little complex (but worthwhile for a number of reasons)/…

  4. Trusted or anonymous sharing? • The options are there for both, there is a time and a place for both in a WARP • Case study “a bad day for Julian”!!

  5. WARPs are not complex? • A shared vision or mission is a basis from which to start • The WARP tool-kit • What happens next is up to you and your WARP/… • An early mile-stone should be trusted information sharing!

  6. Outcomes/… • Peer checking of stuff, no matter how odd? • Development of information sharing protocols. • Better inter London borough consistency of approach to IT Security Stuff! • Conferences and “Study Days”/…

  7. A WARP for 2012? Well I think this would be good, and support this idea, so “don’t let the grass grow”!!!

  8. PS: If you can keep a secret I will tell you what we found last week:

  9. See! Information sharing is easy!!

  10. Thanks/.. • Bruce Thomson • IT Security & Compliance Manager • 01895 556553 • Bthomson@hillingdon.gov.uk • “Founder Member ISfL (Information Security for London)! The very first WARP, established circa April 2003… This is also the WARP formally known as the London Connects WARP….
