  1. Strategies To Improve Students Test Scores Tests are one of the valued elements of school education and help to measure a basic skill in a child. The ability to perform well in tests may help throughout life in many areas, including a child’s carrier. Children should be trained to develop good test-taking skills to help them fight for their bright future. Some of the tips to make sure that a student has every chance to succeed are: Introduction of at least one new ‘power word’ every day Power words are abstract vocabulary words useful for thinking and help in conversation skills. These are the words that appear in the prompts to test items. Power words help children think and express their thoughts in a better way. New concepts and skills Use of performance assessments to ensure mastery in understanding is the key to improving test scores. Use cooperative learning strategies to ensure a student taking responsibility not just for their own learning, but for the learning of others as well. Establish a classroom culture of asking for clarifications and make sure all students get the help they require.

  2. Help children to improve note-taking skills Explain to children the importance of taking class notes. Hurried notes from class sessions can difficult to make sense of at the time of revision. A student must understand that it’s too easy to misunderstand their notes and may fail to get a strong grasp on the concerned topic. Logically organized notes from a class and the books used will ultimately help a student to get more of a topic and an increase in his test score. Find the right learning style Low test scores reveal that a child is still unable to find the right learning style suited for him. All children are different, and each child has his own way of studying. Some like to learn alone, while some students feel better in a group session. GIIS Tokyo, helps in understanding a child’s learning style and later guides him for the best-suited learning style, which will help perform better in his class tests. Understanding procrastinating Putting off the important work because of getting distracted by other things is known as procrastinating. In the present time, social media is one of the major causes of distraction to the students. A big workload is also responsible for distraction when a child doesn’t know where to start. Explain to the children that by delaying their work, they may worsen their task by eating out the time when they could be more productive. Make learning more fun Some students underperform as they have lost the motivation in studies. The pressure of exams and performing well at schools may take away the enjoyment of learning. Identify that if studying has become a chore for you, then it is time to put the fun back by gamifying the studies and trying some bright ideas to make studying less stressful. Goal setting and monitoring Set goals and think forward to reach the set goals is a critical learning skill. Recording your progress and timely monitoring of the goals is an effective approach to help improve test scores.
