  1. Display Case Motion Sensors Small Saver Measure Update July 16th, 2013

  2. Display Case Motion Sensor Measure Overview • Current Category: Small Saver (Bundled with LED Case Lighting) • Current Status: Under Review • Current Sunset Date: July 2013 • Reason for Update/Review: Sunset Date approaching; previously this measure was bundled with LED case lighting. Recommendation memo asked to identify more sources to update/ corroborate measure specifications. • Baseline Type: Pre Conditions

  3. Display Case Motion Sensors Measure Overview • Presentation shifts to Measure Workbook, “Summary Tab” • See Section “Measure Properties” and “Measure Identifiers”

  4. Measure Workbook Update Summary • Latest ProCost template used for this measure workbook; workbook formatted, sourced, and made easily updatable. • Measure EUL updated using DEER. • Source for previous workbook: PGE 2007 workpaper. • Previous workbook assumed that the EUL of the motion sensor was the same as the LED EUL • The proposed EUL value is derived using EUL of Occupancy Sensors in DEER • No change in EUL value (8 years) • Minor updates made to cost calculation • Units were adjusted to match energy savings units • Updated cost is 2 cents less than previous cost • Cost deflated to 2006 $.

  5. Measure Workbook Update Summary • Literature research conducted to understand if measure specification needs to be updated. PECI was consulted as well as part of this literature research. • No new M&V study for Grocery Store Display Case Motion Sensor was found • A case study by SMUDestimated that savings are approx. 41% of baseline use. • A ComEDFact Sheet states that savings are approximately 30 % of baseline use. • Proposed workbook estimates that savings are 30 % of baseline use. • Baseline wattage for this measure was updated by weighting with PECI ESG data. • Current base wattage: 7 W and 3.5 W • Proposed base wattage: 6.3 W and 3.2 W • The UES calculation methodology remain unchanged.

  6. Items for RTF Discussion • None.

  7. Presentation Shifts to Measure Workbook • “Summary” tab, sections “Constant Parameters” and “Energy Savings Estimation Method, Parameters and Data Sources” • “Presentation” tab

  8. Summary of Changes • Energy savings has reduced slightly. • By an average of 10 % • Costs have decreased as well. • Decrease by 2 % • EUL remains the same. • Slight increase in TRC.

  9. RTF Proposed Motion: I _________ move that the RTF approve the Display Case Motion Sensor Small Saver measure to “Proven” category with “Active” status with a sunset date of July, 2018
