As we rejoiced on being a 66-year old independent nation on the 15th of August, 2012, we also gave ourselves time to reflect: was our fight against poverty, lack of education and basic amenities for most part of the country really over? We are just a cog in the larger wheel and all our efforts converge at one single point- making human life better. We can’t change the world but we can promise to make a difference. The crusade continues…

  6. Earlier This Month… Launching of Kishori Express-II for Banarpal Block

  7. After the success of Kishori Express I which reached out to 7694 girls across 157 villages of Chhendipada block through 269 visits as of July 2012, Team CSR has embarked on a second mission- that of Kishori Express-II in order to battle the occurrence of anaemia among adolescent girls in Banarpal Block. The mission is a result of a successful collaboration of JSPL with the Koshala CHC and Chhendipada ICDS. Kishori Express has got noteworthy acceptance from the peripheral community as well as appreciation at the state and National level. With the experience of success and the request from District Administration, Team CSR-JSPL has rolled out the programme to the neighbouring block of Banarpal in partnership with District health Administration, NRHM and ICDS. The initiative targets at covering no less than15,000 adolescent girlsof Banarpal block.

Education for the masses unreached… Team CSR continued its mission for the 5th time in the last 5 years in providing text books for the children of jail inmates across 50 jails in the state of Odisha. The initiative is in partnership with  the John Augustus Prison and Social Welfare Services, NGO working for the betterment of jail inmates and their families. In the Culminating event, a special programme  was organized by Team CSR led by Head of the Department Ms.Puspa Satapathy in the premises of Angul Jail on Sunday, the 26th of August. District Collector, Angul,  Mr. Arabind Agarwal was present as  the  Chief Guest and expressed high appreciation for this persistent initiative of JSPL.

New beginnings: ‘Pallishree’ opens at the Township premises ‘Pallishree- A Mart of Rural Produce’is a platform to showcasevarious products manufactured by groupsof womenliving in the periphery villages of JSPL. The shop was dedicated by Mrs.Sujata Saraogito the JSPL townshipdwellers on the 3rd of August 2012and brings various rural, indigenous products such as home-made snacks,  jute bags, hand-made herbal body care products, savoury items and other household items to their doorstep.Othermembers of Jindal Mahila Samiti also graced the occasion. The launch is part of the sustainable livelihood initiatives undertaken by the CSR dept at JSPL, Angul, which aims at creating options of sustained supplementary income for the local communityand creating market linkages for rural produce. Jindalites and family members are requested to avail the opportunity of purchasing herbal cosmetics, jute bags and home-processed hygienic eatables.
