Meanings of the word • It is practically impossible for one to give an overview of what the word stands for. • There were studies which gave the word culture over 160 different meanings. • Most common meanings are: Excellence of taste in fine arts, set of characteristics of nation or race, knowledge, belief and behavior.

  3. Culture and entertainment • There are many different categories that fit under C&E for example: • Visual arts • Musical arts • Drama and literature

  4. Visual arts • Visual arts can be further categorized in: • Painting • Sculpturing • Architecture • And many more

  5. Salvador Dalí - spanish surrealist, lived in 20th century, most known painting is Persistence of Memory

  6. Pablo Picasso - spanish cubist, 19-20th century, example of his work - Guernica: Testimony of War

  7. Frank Lloyd Wright - american architect, 19-20th century, best known for his Falling Water building in Pennsylvania, recognized in 1991 as the greatest American architect of all time

  9. Simon & Garfunkel -American Singer/Songwriter duo consisting of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, rose to fame in 1965, most known hit Sound of Silence

  10. Ray Charles Robinson - blind american pianist born in Georgia in 1930, played mostly Rhytm and Blues, Soul and Jazz, best known for composing Georgia on my mind which was later proclaimed state song of Georgia and my pesonal favorite Let’s go get stoned, he died in 2004

  11. Jimi Marshall Hendrix -Born Johny Allen Hendrix in 1942, died in his late twenties, many times named the best rock guitarist of all time, played mostly psychedelic rock, hard rock and acid rock

  12. Drama and literature • Drama is a specific mode of fiction represented in performance as opposed to literature which is art of written works. • There are even more styles than in previous mentioned categories.
