Ülo ‘s Christmas Eve. In Poland we put some hay under the tablecloth to commemorate the place where Christ was born. We decorate the table and light the candles. We prepare the holy wafer, which, later on, everybody shares.

  2. In Poland we put some hay under the tablecloth to commemorate the place where Christ was born

  3. We decorate the table and light the candles

  4. We prepare the holy wafer, which, later on, everybody shares

  5. We leave an extra plate for an unexpected guest. This year I was the unexpected guest!

  6. On Christmas Eve, Father Christmas brings presents and puts them under the Christmas tree.

  7. We put twelve dishes on a Christmas table like: • Carp • Herring in vinegar • Herring in cream • Jacket potatoes • Mushroom soup with noodles • Ravioli with sauerktaut and • mushrooms • Sauerkraut with peas • Sauerkraut with mushrooms • Stewed fruit • Vegetable salad • Fruit salad • Kutya

  8. When the first star appears in the sky, everybody shares a holy wafer and then sits at the table

  9. Everybody wants to spend this time with their family

  10. After Christmas supper – children’s favourite part of the celebrations – getting presents!

  11. I spent Christmas break in the mountains
