  1. Data Stewardship and Maintenance for the National Hydrography Dataset USGS/INEGI Cross-Border Integration Project U.S. Department of the Interior U.S. Geological Survey

  2. BinationalWorkingGroupWatersheds and Hydrographic Networks Missing in the picture - Manuel Mavila(USGS), Kim Jones (USGS) and Miguel Pavon (Texas)

  3. Pilot Project Subbasin 15080302 Hydrographic features do not recognize political boundaries!

  4. Project Overview: 31 Subbasins Data processing will begin in California and progress East

  5. Phase One: Edge Matching USGS will extract subbasins and edge match NHD to INEGI hydro net ●Notify/discuss with INEGI where hydro net needs to be adjusted on Mexico side. ●Submit updates to NHD database

  6. Edge Matching Spatial allignment where feature exists in both datasets

  7. Edge Matching Content additions – INEGI, Hydrographic Network

  8. Edge Matching Content additions – USGS, National Hydrography Dataset

  9. Phase Two: Integrating INEGI Hydrographic Network with USGS National Hydrography Dataset USGS will extract subbasins and use ETL tool to integrate INEGI data into the NHD model & Crosswalk data. ●Track all additions as “Add Feature” in NHDStatus table ● Allocate NHD reach codes for all new reachable features ● Add WBAreaComID to all artificial paths

  10. Utilizing NHD in Best Practices model to cross-walk data Note: Common Identifier (ComID) in current model will be retained as secondary identifier. Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) in NHD BP model will become the Permanent Identifier

  11. Converting INEGI Feature Class to NHD FType/FCode

  12. Source (Canada Shapefiles) Destination (NHD Feature Classes) FME/ETL Example Tool …. (From Canada Pilot) NHDWaterBody Tranformers Attribute Creator FCode Filter NHDArea FCode Crosswalk

  13. Maintenance: INEGI will have access to NHD updates through data extracts http://usgs-mrs.cr.usgs.gov/steward/st2maps.html National Map Viewer – URL TBD USGS will establish Area of Interest (AOI) for INEGI who will be notified by email when updates occur within cross-border subbasins on the US side USGS will be notified by INEGI when updates occur within cross-border subbasins on the Mexico side –send shapefiles?
