CLIMAX: Ellen and the others are able to escape as Annemarie finally delivers the “package” to Uncle Henrik after racing through the woods and escaping the Nazi soldiers. Mrs. Johansen and the girls finally reach Uncle Henrik’s house for the night of mourning, for Dear Aunt Birte. Soldiers come to the house to question the gathering. Falling Action Uncle Henrik safely delivers his “package” to Sweden. Rising Action Mrs. Johansen takes Annemarie, Kirsti, and Ellen to Uncle Henrik’s house by train. Soldiers board the train to question the passengers. RESOLUTION:Mrs. Johansen, Annemarie, and Kirsti return home to Papa. The war ends. Annemarie anticipates Ellen’s return. Peter takes Mr. and Mrs. Rosen into safe-hiding. Ellen stays with the Johansens. Soldiers come to the house to search for the Rosens, and almost discover Ellen!
