  5. Apply and Get Admitted Student must apply to the college or university for College Credit Plus College will evaluate student placement test scores to ensure student is “college-ready”

  6. Student Choice You choose the course(s) that fits your pathway. Each must be secular, apply toward a degree or workforce certification, and confer college credit. Talk to your counselor about your academic plan and career goals. Review the school’s model pathways.

  7. Graduate with College Credit You can earn up to 30 college credit hours per academic year; includes summer term. You can earn up to 120 college credit hours while in the program. Discuss your credit eligibility with your counselor.

  8. Summer Requirements CCP enrollment can begin summer term Students should apply early to the college or university if interested in summer

  9. Summer Requirements Summer term will apply as the first term of the next school year. A college’s summer term may begin in May. There may be multiple sessions within a summer term.

  10. Summer Requirements If you want to participate in summer term, you must submit your letter of intent to participate early enough to apply and gain admission to the college and register for course(s) in the spring.

  11. Summer CCP courses may not be used to bring a student into compliance with the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) requirements for interscholastic athletic participation. Summer & Interscholastic Athletics

  12. Summer & Interscholastic Athletics Student athletes should: • Learn the OHSAA requirements. • Not rely on summer CCP courses to reduce the classes/courses they take during the fall and spring terms.

  14. Find the Colleges and Courses that Fit Counselors and Advisors can help you select courses for your pathway. Communication is KEY!

  15. A semester college course of 3 or more credits counts as a one-year high school credit.

  16. Under what scenarios can a qualified student use College Credit Plus?

  17. You want to take college courses to satisfy your high school graduation requirements. You completed your high school graduation required classes and you want to begin college work. You want to explore college and take a course in a subject that interests you.

  18. Books and Fees Students attending a public college do not pay for either books or fees. Students attending a private college may have pay up to $158.50/credit hour. Students must be Ohio residents.

  21. Weighted Grades College courses must be weighted equally to the weight of Advanced Placement classesin the same subject area. College Course AP

  22. The grades you earn in the college courses will be recorded on your college transcript and your high school transcript. The grades may satisfy high school required or elective classes.You must request official college transcripts to be sent to colleges you apply to your senior year…CCP courses on your high school transcript are not transferable. Grades are Applied to High School Transcripts

At Hayes • College Algebra = College Algebra (TBD must be taken for CCP) = 3-4 Credits • MTC Block = Psychology, Sociology, Oral Comm, Diversity (MTC must be taken for CCP) = 12 credits • Spanish 4 = Beginning Spanish II (WSU) = 3 Credits • French 4 = Beginning French II (WSU) = 3 Credits • Photography 2 = Digital Image Manipulation (MTC) = 3 Credits • Project Management and Supply Chain Systems (CSCC) = 3 Credits • Principles of Business (CSCC) = 3 Credits • Finance Accounting (CSCC) = 3 Credits (Pending Approval) • Advanced Global Logistics Management (CSCC) = 3 Credits • Logistics, Transportation and Traffic Management (CSCC) = 3 Credits • Customer Service and Sales (CSCC) = 3 Credits (2018-2019)

  25. STEPS TO CCP • 1. Notify School Counselor by April 1 of intent to participate (Intent to Participate FORM). • Ms. Burwinkel– Upcoming Grade 7 • Ms. Ziegler – Upcoming Grade 8 • Mrs. Scott – Upcoming Grade 9 • Mr. Brown – Upcoming Grades 10 – 12 (Last Names A – G) • Ms. Smith– Upcoming Grades 10 – 12 (Last Names H – O) • Ms. Pollard – Upcoming Grades 10 – 12 (Last Names P – Z)

  26. STEPS TO CCP • 2. Apply to college of your choosing by college assigned deadline (many are May 1). • 3. Show academic college-readiness/admission standards based on college’s criteria (College-readiness Test/Transcript). • 4. Complete any additional paperwork for the college (counselor form, WSU Math test waiver, etc.) or online requirements (WSU Online Writing Test). • 5. Attend an orientation in person or online, if required • 6. Register for appropriate classes based on counselor and advisor recommendation.

AP vs CCP AP • College Level • Can be used for “credit by exam” • Test score, not grade determines credit • Year Long • Standard Curriculum • Good for out-of-state, highly selective • Weighted grade CCP • College course/Dual credit • Transfers to any public college, most private colleges in Ohio • Grade determines credit • Some year long, some semester • Good for in-state, students who are sure of direction • Weighted grade in AP subject

The Good, the Bad, & the Textbooks! • CCP is a process of application, testing, registration, requesting books, taking classes, reporting grades…you must stay organized and meet your deadlines! • It is best if you know your pathway to ensure the courses you take will benefit you and can be transferred into your course of study. • Textbooks are ordered differently depending upon the institution. • Textbooks are to be retuned to your school counselor (unless otherwise directed) immediately after the semester ends. • Let’s hear from aCCP student….
