  2. Learning Goals Today our learning community will understand… • The correlation between the Common Core Standards and PARCC. • PARCC-related vocabulary and technology. • The resources available to support CCSS implementation and PARCC readiness.

  3. WHAT IS PARCC? • A group of states collaborating to develop a set of assessments that will measure whether students are on track to be successful in college and their careers. • High quality, computer-based K–12 assessments in Mathematics and ELA/Literacy that will inform teachers, schools, students, and parents as to whether students’ are on track in their learning. • PARCC assessments will be ready for states to administer during the 2014-15 school year.   4. How best to prepare for PARCC? • Teach the Common Core Standards! • Student-centered classroom environment • Promote deep, conceptual understanding (highest levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy) • Evidence-based responses • Building knowledge through reading and writing http://vimeo.com/51933492

Understanding PARCC Vocabulary & Tech Resources • Performance-Based Assessment (PBA) Administered in Spring after 70% of content • End of Year (EOY) Administered in late Spring; after 90% of content • Use of Technology- PC/iPads with wireless keyboards, headphones/ear phones, testing will take place over a 20-day range rotating classes.
