  2. The university recognizes that a wide range of problems may have an adverse effect on an employee's job performance. When marital or family discord, financial or legal crises, emotional problems, alcohol or drug problems, illness, or other difficulties interfere with or threaten job performance or conduct, the university offers assistance through the State Employee Assistance Program (SEAP) in Human Resources.

  3. How to address an employee • Calmly talk with the employee about your concerns if your comfort level provides the opportunity • Express your concerns in a non-judgmental way • Offer resources such as Counseling Center and SEAP

  4. Cont. • If unable to speak with employee, speak to your supervisor and discuss options • Contact the Counseling Center (x 2255) for consultation and assistance (The counseling Center provides a free counseling and referral session)
