  2. What are Proofreaders Marks? The Symbols that are used to mark corrections and changes to a document.

  3. Capitalize What is the symbol? What is it for? To correct a capitalization error. Example: I love the city of new york.

  4. Close Up What is the symbol? What is it for? To correct a error in spacing. Example: Today our test will be on hard ware.

  5. Delete What is the symbol? What is it for? To correct a error in to many letters. Example: Mr. Young is the bbest teacher ever.

  6. Insert What is the symbol? What is it for? To insert a letter or object. Example: Bill, Eric, Sam, and Will went to the mal. l

  7. Insert Comma What is the symbol? What is it for? To insert a comma that is missing. Example: Bill, Eric, Sam and Will went to the mall.

  8. Insert Space What is the symbol? What is it for? To insert space that is missing. Example: Bill, Eric, Sam and Will wentto the mall.

  9. Insert Apostrophe What is the symbol? What is it for? To insert a apostrophe that is missing. Example: I think that Billys is the best.

  10. Insert Period What is the symbol? What is it for? To insert a period that is missing. Example: I think that that is a good idea I will let the others know!

  11. Insert Quotation Marks What is the symbol? What is it for? To insert missing quotation marks. Example: Julie said Mr. Young is good looking.

  12. Move Right What is the symbol? What is it for? To move something to the right. Example: Chris Young July 3rd, 2011

  14. Move Down What is the symbol? What is it for? To insert a letter or object. Example: July 3rd, 2011

  16. Center What is the symbol? What is it for? To center text or a object. Example: July 3rd, 2011

  17. Lowercase What is the symbol? What is it for? Something is capitalized that should not be. Example: Of all the foods, Southern food is my favorite.

  18. Paragraph What is the symbol? What is it for? To start a new paragraph. Example: Today we will learn about formatting and editing. When editing you have to read carefully and try to find errors. The errors may not be easy to fin which in turn will make it hard. You may have to read the sentence multiple times and it takes a lot of work. In order to be successful you will have to put forth a lot of work. No one gets anything for free, those who work the hardest will be the most successful in life. This is true with anything that you will come face to face with. If you always try hard, you will be successful.

  19. No New Paragraph What is the symbol? What is it for? To not start a new paragraph. Example: Today we will learn about formatting and editing. When editing you have to read carefully and try to find errors. The errors may not be easy to fin which in turn will make it hard. You may have to read the sentence multiple times and it takes a lot of work. In order to be successful you will have to put forth a lot of work. No one gets anything for free, those who work the hardest will be the most successful in life. This is true with anything that you will come face to face with. If you always try hard, you will be successful.

  20. Align Copy What is the symbol? What is it for? To make sure the text is alligned. Example: Chris Young July 3rd, 2011

  21. Spell Out/Misspelled What is the symbol? What is it for? To spell out the word or the word is misspelled. Example: To look at this topic would be smrmart, considering we will be tested on it soon.

  22. Transpose What is the symbol? What is it for? To switch the order of the letters. Example: Looking at that bus teh tires look flat.

  23. Underline or Italics What is the symbol? What is it for? To make the text or italicized. Example: The meeting will be at 5:00 today.

  24. Let it stand What is the symbol? What is it for? To make sure the original stays the same. Example: My favorite food is Mexican food.
