SharePoint 2013 • Migration Timelines • (tentative and subject to change) • Test Environment • Available to user population on Monday, July 22 • Production Environment • Standard Farm (My Sites & Standard Sites) – Sunday, October 10 • Advanced Farm (Knowledge Lake users) – Sunday, November 13 • NOTE: The production dates are subject to change based upon testing and user impact.

SharePoint 2013 • Migration • Will the migration from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint affect existing sites and users? • YES, the move WILL NOT be seamless! • How can I get ready for the migration to minimize the affect? • Clean up any old data you don’t need • Get rid of site collections or subsites you don’t need • Request a test site in the SharePoint 2013 farm and get familiar and test some functionality.

SharePoint 2013 • Post Migration • Post migration your sites will still be running as a 2010 SharePoint site. • Independently, each site will need to be committed to SharePoint 2013 • Commit to SP2013 does cause site outage • There will be a date (TBD) which all sites will need to be committed to SP2013 • My Sites will be committed automatically at time of migration • There is an option to test upgrade before committing to SP2013, however, this may not be an option for all sites

SharePoint 2013 • Test Farm • Pre Production Purpose • To allow users to see and familiarize themselves with SP13 using BLANK sites. • Will be available to users on Monday, July 22. • To request test farm site use the sites request farm and in the comments field request a 2013 test site. • Post Production Purpose • Provide a preproduction environment for system administrators, site collection owners and site owners • To test new site setups and functionality prior to implementing changes into production • To test security patching and software upgrades prior to implementing changes into production • To test and configure new SP environment features and functionality prior to implementation into production.

SharePoint 2013 • Production Farm Testing • Pre Production Purpose • To allow site collection owners and site owners the ability to test their existing SharePoint 2010 in SharePoint 2013. • Ability to commit their site from SP2010 to SP2013 • Tentative availability, Monday, August 12 • If you want a test site before Code Freeze (Aug 16), send e-mail to SP2013@indiana.eduprior to Friday, August 10. • After code freeze (Sept 2), we will be doing weekly migrations. Send e-mail to SP2013@indiana.eduby Noon each Friday and the requested site will be available the following Monday. • Prod1 farm (currently 2010 Standard Farm) testing will be available from August 12 to September 30. • Prod2 farm (currently 2010 Advance Farm) testing will be available from August 12 to October 30. • Document changes!!! • Nothing will be kept in final migration and changes will need to be reapplied.

SharePoint 2013 • Testing Assistance & Problem Resolution • Send e-mail to SP2013@indiana.edu and be as specific as you can about your problem. • Note: This e-mail account will be monitored on a daily basis and issues will be assigned to support staff to aid you. Do not expect immediate response or immediate resolution of problem.
