  2. Trade Press The biggest reason for project failure is lack of IT governance The IT initiatives are usually implemented only in the IT departments. There is a lack of communication between the IT and the non IT departments. Lack of technology awareness among the top management

Trade Press • CIO magazine cites requirement gathering as the main reason for project failure • As many as 71 percent of the software projects fail because of problems with requirement gathering • It is the responsibility of the IT department to decode the business requirements • Remedial measures • stripping down the scope of the project, • reducing the number of stakeholders • IT has to take a leadership role in the requirement gathering process
