  4. SIG Leader Replacement Discussion Situation: I will resign as the SIG Leader on February 9th 2012 after the regular Thursday night meeting. Purpose of discussion to night: To assess the sentiments of the members of the group about the Investment SIG and what they would like to see in the future Assuming that there is a consensus to continue, what are the thoughts / suggestions from the group about how to conduct the meetings Does anyone have an interest in assuming the role of the leader or moderator?

Some Recent Security Recommendations from Analysts Elliot Gue, Personal Finance Newsletter (Feb 8th issue) His Market Observation: Follow the market—its headed up US Economic data continues to improve, China likely will have a soft landing, there are improvements in the European problem He feels a US recession has only a 12% probability in first 6 months Recent Recommendations: Because the Fed has extended the zero interest rate period, he recommends using covered calls and explains their use BHP Billiton-- NYSE (BHP) buy ADR up to $100 LINN Energy LLC--NSDQ (LINE) buy up to $40 Celgene Corp—NSDQ (CELG) buy up to $80 Peabody Coal– NYSE (BTU) buy up to $45

Some Recent Security Recommendations from Analysts John Dessauer – Hot Line (Feb 8th and Jan 31 issues) His Market Observation: He points out some facts that detract from the employment gains But contrarily, he cites benefits of the resulting low labor costs, plus low inflation to contribute to exceptional business profits He says that investors have been focused on the negatives and that has kept the price of stocks lower than justified. Stocks are cheap now. Generally he if very positive about the market now Recent Recommendations: Halliburton, NYSE (HAL) now at $35.44, expects it to go to $48 Aetna—NYSE (AET) now at $43.90, expects it to go to $55 McGraw Hill – (MHP) now at $46.00, expects it to go to $55

Some Recent Security Recommendations from Analysts Carla Pasternak – High Yield Investor (Feb 4 issue) Her Market Observation: Doesn’t provide an analysis Recent Recommendations: SPDR Barclays High Yield Bond Fund—NYSE (JNK) 8% yield TTM, with 4.95% Total Yield, about double the S&P. Nuveen Premier Insured Municipal Fund—NYSE (NIF) 7.5% Yield Sell Frontier Communications :FTR Sell Alaska Communications: ALSK Last year 29 of her portfolio’s 34 positions had gains. One portfolio gained 11%, the other 2.6%. (S&P 2.1%) Pretty good for a conservative investor and in a volatile year

Some Recent Security Recommendations from Analysts Richard Band - Profitable Investing (Feb 8, 3, 1, Jan 27) His Market Observation: He is bearish short term and is shifting about 10% of his portfolio from stocks to bonds. Stocks are expensive now. He feels the market will pull back in a few months for a buying opportunity. Late 2012 will be strong Recent Recommendations: DoubleLine Total Return Bond (DLTNX) 7.9% yield, buy to $11.20 (mortgages) California Water Service (NYSE:CWT) 3.4% yield, buy to $19 (take over target) Baxter International NYSE (BAX), buy up to $54 2.5% yield(strong growth in medical supplies) Unilever (NYSE (UL) 3.8% yield, buy up to $32 (strong growth in EM) Eton Vance Tax-Managed Buy-Write Opportunities Fund NYSE (ETF) 10.8% yield, CEF discounted 13%, buy up to $12.50

Some Recent Security Recommendations from Analysts Steven Leeb (Cash Cow) (Jan 28, -- February issue) His Market Observation: The sell off in commodities late last year is merely a dent in the overall long term upward trend for them. Says ETFs will continue to attract large funding Recent Recommendations: iShares MSCI United Kingdom ETF (EWU) 2.8% yield is a safe have for funds transferred out of Europe. Should see appreciation. Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF (VIG) 2.4% yield Note: He has a portfolio with many, many commodities and is holding
