Background • $40 million Community Challenge Planning Grant Program • 3 Federal Agencies • Housing & Urban Development • Department of Transportation • Environmental Protection Agency • Better coordination of transportation, housing, economic development, land use planning, and to improve linkages between DOT & HUD programs – Goal is sustainable communities • Can be used for: • Master planning • creation of development regulations that reduce automotive use • create mixed communities • promotion of land assembly • expansion of housing opportunities • create more transportation choices

City Focus – Leverage Assets NE Quadrant of City: -Designated Brownfield -City/community assets -Oldest housing stock -High use of trails with access to commercial, recreational opportunities City Council Priorities: -Aging Commercial Areas -CRA for NE Section of City -Aging Neighborhood Assessment & Plan

  4. Grant Request • Grant Funding Request for: • Baseline data collection • Community Visioning • Data and Community Visioning Analysis • Master Plan Formulation • Implementation Mechanisms • Resolution of Support
