PROPOSED WEEK 2 - MURMURS • Live lectures, 1 hour; Labs, 4 hours; ILAs (non-lab), 6 hours Live lectures removed: Cardiac Function (PHY) Hemodynamics of Murmurs (PHY) Pathophysiology of Valve Disease (PAT/PHY) Congenital Heart Disease (PED) Murmurs in Children (PED) Measurements & CV Screening (CPPH)
PROPOSED WEEK 3 – ABNORMAL BLOOD PRESSURE • Live lectures, 3 hours; Labs, 2 hours; ILAs (non-lab), 6 hours; Reviews, 2 hours (optional) Live lectures removed: Blood Pressure Regulation (PHY) Pathology of Hypertension (PAT) Antihypertensive Drugs (PHA) Hypotension (PHY)
First Half of CV Block(Palpitations, Murmurs, Abnormal Blood Pressure) * Excluding optional reviews & OMM lectures
Summary of Proposed Changes to MK Non-lab Components in CV Block • Lectures • Less than 1/3 of existing lectures will be given “live” • Lectures limited to module overviews and visiting instructors • Removed lectures will be pre-recorded as resource materials or substituted with explicit, required readings • Interactive Learning Activities (ILAs) • Used to reinforce student learning • Replace some of the live didactic lectures • Required attendance at lectures and ILAs • About 5 hours/week opened up to the students
