  1. 2010 – Making Up Lost Ground… ~Living A Spirit- Filled Life~

  2. Flashback… Act 2:17-18 "When the last days come, I will give my Spirit to everyone. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will have dreams. In those days I will give my Spirit to my servants, both men and women, and they will prophesy.

  3. Going way back… Isa 44:3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.

  4. Here is a thought: A life filled with the Spirit does not leave much room for a life filled with sin, self, and Satan.

  5. Consider this passage… Act 5:3 Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land?

  6. Are you ready to… …live a Spirit-Filled Life?

  7. Eph 5:18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit.

  8. Principle #1… Being filled with the Spirit should be a natural and expected evidence of one’s relationship with God and Christ.

  9. Consider John the Baptist… Luke 1:15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

  10. Consider Elizabeth… Luke 1:41 And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

  11. Consider Zachariah… Luke 1:67 Now his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied.

  12. Here a break in the action…. What kind of spirit are people filled with in your house?

  13. Principle #2… Being filled with the Spirit gives you access to spiritual fruit and power for your heart and your home.

  14. Consider Jesus… Luke 4:1 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness

  15. Luke 4:18-19 God's Spirit is on me; he's chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor, Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, To set the burdened and battered free, to announce, "This is God's year to act!"

  16. Principle #3… Being filled with the Spirit will propel you into the life of Christ.

  17. 120 in the Upper Room… Act 2:4 And they were all full of the Holy Spirit, and were talking in different languages, as the Spirit gave them power.

  18. Peter addressing the healing of the lame man… Act 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders of Israel:

  19. Peter, John, and the multitude… Act 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

  20. The first deacons… Act 6:3 My friends, choose seven men who are respected and wise and filled with God's Spirit. We will put them in charge of these things.

  21. Stephen the first martyr… Act 6:5 This suggestion pleased everyone, and they began by choosing Stephen. He had great faith and was filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they chose Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and also Nicolaus, who worshiped with the Jewish people in Antioch.

  22. Paul confronting Elymas… Act 13:9 - 10 Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, "You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord?

  23. Paul, Barnabas, and the disciples… Act 13:52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

  24. Principle #4… Being filled with the Spirit is not a cult practice, but a Christ presence and power.

  25. Back to the verse… Eph 5:18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit.

  26. What is thefilled in Ephesians 5.18? “Filled” is plēroō (πληροω), “to fill up, to cause to abound, to furnish or supply liberally, to flood, to diffuse throughout.”Wuest, Kenneth S.: Wuest's Word Studies from the Greek New Testament : For the English Reader. 30. I am now ready to live a Spirit-filled life…but before you prepare to receive… …Remember the lesson of Simon...

  31. Act 8:14-16 When the apostles in Jerusalem received the report that Samaria had accepted God's Message, they sent Peter and John down to pray for them to receive the Holy Spirit. Up to this point they had only been baptized in the name of the Master Jesus; the Holy Spirit hadn't yet fallen on them.

  32. Act 8:17-18 Then the apostles laid their hands on them and they did receive the Holy Spirit. When Simon saw that the apostles by merely laying on hands conferred the Spirit, he pulled out his money, excited,

  33. Act 8:19 and said, "Sell me your secret! Show me how you did that! How much do you want? Name your price!"

  34. Act 8:20-22 Peter said, "To hell with your money! And you along with it. Why, that's unthinkable--trying to buy God's gift! You'll never be part of what God is doing by striking bargains and offering bribes. Change your ways--and now! Ask the Master to forgive you for trying to use God to make money.

  35. A prayer for your filling… Eph 3:16-17 I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit--not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength-- that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love,

  36. Eph 3:18-19 you'll be able to take in with all Christians the extravagant dimensions of Christ's love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.

  37. Eph 3:20 God can do anything, you know--far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.
