  2. Correction from Others • All Scripture is profitable for reproof (2 Tim. 3:16). • Proverbs emphasizes the value of rebuke (Prov. 15:5; 12:1; 27:5-6; 25:12; 9:8-9) • David’s attitude toward correction (2 Sam. 12:5-13; Ps. 141:5) • Peter and Barnabas needed correction (Gal. 2:11-13)

  3. Correction through Trials • Jeremiah’s plea (Jer. 10:24) • The chastening of the Lord(Heb. 12:5-7) • Trials help us grow (James 1:2-4; Rom. 5:3-4; Heb. 12:11) • The psalmist’s attitude toward affliction (Ps. 119:67, 71, 75) • If we are truly disciples of Christ, we will suffer persecution (Heb. 12:8; 1 Pet. 2:20-21; 2 Tim. 3:12)

  4. Correction from God’s Word • God’s word is profitable for correction & instruction (2 Tim. 3:16) • We need to use God’s word to examine ourselves (James 1:23-25; 2 Cor. 13:5) • The psalmist’s attitude toward God’s word (Ps. 119:33-34, 59) • The man who listens to instruction from God’s law is blessed (Ps. 94:12)
